Helpful Hyena — *what I have actually learned from living with rescue dogs, foster cats, and a few more unusual animals over twelve years*.
I am not a vet. I am not a certified trainer. I am not a pet influencer who is going to tell you about a sponsored kibble brand. I am someone who has lived with animals for a long time, has made plenty of mistakes, and has learned things slowly through the actual experience of caring for them. This is the site I would have wanted to find when I brought home my first rescue dog and had no idea what I was doing.
The writing is plain. The experiences are real. When something I tried did not work, I say so. When something the internet said would work did not work for my dog, I say so. When a vet bill was higher than I expected or a training approach took longer than the books promised, I say that too. Honest pet writing for people who want to do right by their animals and need someone other than the marketing voice to help them figure out how.

Care policy — Every patient gets vitals on intake, a chart entry per visit, and a follow-up window. Owners get the same notes the chart gets.
